Accessories
The final flourishes, small objects of style, memory, or utility that complete the look and carry weight far beyond their size.
What I wear isn’t random. Each piece has purpose. Some for function, some for fashion, some for love.
Suspenders
Always worn, even if no one sees them. The brighter, the better: stripes, florals, or jewel tones. Not only are they your little secret burst of color hidden beneath a vest and coat, but they serve the purpose of keeping your slacks and shirt in place! To store them, I use DandyHooks (link coming soon) to hang them properly from a coat hanger in my wardrobe.
Glasses
Half-moon, rimless, and perfectly suited for peering over with intent. Timeless, theatrical, and entirely practical.
Pocket Watch Chain (Double Albert)
Attached to the second vest button (as is classically proper) and split across both pockets:
- Left pocket: The chain ending in a bauble, same pocket I keep my Goblin Coins in.
- Right pocket: A locket containing curls of hair from both Miss Megan and and her sister Mouse, dearly departed and forever remembered.
- Center: Symbolic keys dangle where the chain forks. No one quite knows what they unlock.
Decorative Pins
Usually just one at a time, no need to overdo it, a boutonnière or a small pin bearing a slogan, symbol, or seasonal flair. Never a cluttered mess, each one has a reason to be there.
Everyday Totems
- Lighter – Always on hand. Often engraved or embellished. Even if you don't smoke, a good lighter comes in handy!
- Calling card case – Because one never knows when introductions must be made with proper flair.
Accessories, to me...
Are not mere extras. They’re the echoes of deeper things; people I’ve loved, stories I’ve told, signals I carry.
They are the whisper at the end of the outfit. And they matter.
